Printmaking
Description: For this project we did printmaking. We had to have at the end, three different prints, with two of them having vegetables used in them. We had the gelli prints and put different colored paint on them. Then rolled out the paint so that it covered the whole gelli print. Then we either took a vegetable (broccoli, pepper, or celery), or a stencil and pressed it into the gelli print to make the design we wanted. After that, we put the paper on top of the print and pressed it down. After that we pulled the paper off of the gellli print. Then we were left with a nice print. We continued to do so until we had experimented with as many different designs as possible. At the end, we took three of our favorite prints and put them onto the paper for a gallery walk at the end.
Extension Activity: For the extension activity, I would have the students research different ways printmaking has been used throughout the centuries for different things. They will have to write a short paper of three to four paragraphs explaining at least two different ways they have been used.
