Whoville Project

Image
Description: For this project we had to show our creativity in which we were given a white piece of paper and 10 pieces of colored paper. We had to use at leas 2 of our own designs and 2 of the designs they provided to draw onto at least 4 of the strips of colored paper. After doing that, we had to use at least 3 different folds of paper to put onto the white piece of paper. On each of the strips of colored paper we had to make tabs to glue down the strips to the white paper so that they did not come unglued. At the end, we hung up our projects with everyone else's in the class to make one big Whoville. Extension Activity: For this extension activity, I would have the students write a short paper about their Whoville as if they were the mayor of the town. They would have to explain how things get done their and how the people work together to make the town successful. The students need to be very descriptive with their writing to show how their Whoville is different from their cl...

Watercolor Paintings

Image
Description: For this project we were taught about galaxy painting. We learning about constellations and different ways to use watercolors. For this project we had to include 3 different types of watercolor techniques, one constellation, and it had to be a landscape.  Extension Activity: For this activity, I would have students learn more about the galaxy and constellations. Students will use this project and research about galaxy's and constellations to write a paper about what they are and fun facts about them.

Perspective Drawing

Image
Description: For this assignment, our classmates taught us how to draw with perspective. We had to draw at least four squares in half of the paper, then draw lines from the corners of the squares to the middle of the paper. After that we went over those lines with black sharpie to make the lines stand out. Then we had to pick two of the patterns from their slide show and come up with two of our own to put in the squares. After that we used oil pastels to create at least three different combinations. Extension activity: I would teach the students about buildings and how they have perspective as well. For the assignment they will have to choose a building in their town and draw it. They will research the building and find pictures on the internet. After that they will draw the building showing shading and perspective.

Upside Down Drawings

Image
Description: For this art project we learned how to draw upside down and how it is easier to draw that way. We started the lesson off by learning about drawing upside down and how it is beneficial to learn that way. When you draw upside down, you are not worrying about what you are drawing like the small details, but the outline of the object. I chose to draw an elephant because I thought it would be a little easier than the other choices. After drawing the elephant upside down with a cool color, we then had to add three different shapes or lines to our project with warm colors. I chose to do red lines, orange diamonds, and yellow swirls. After finishing our project we had to glue it to our background and write on the index card three clues about our animal.  Extension Activity: For this extension activity, I would teach the students about their primary and secondary colors. Students would have a worksheet where they have to label the primary and secondary colors that they u...

Vincent Van Gogh Inspired Landscape Project

Image
Description: This activity was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's rendition of Starry Night. We had to use different elements of design to capture his idea of a landscape. We had to use three different types of media. I used tissue paper, oil pastels, and black paper. We used a type of modge podge to glue the tissue paper on the background, that way it would stay down nicely. We then had to make the landscape that would go on top of the background. I chose to do under the sea because of the tissue paper colors that I chose. After gluing the landscape in we had to use another media, so I added some waves with oil pastels.  Extension Activity: For this extension activity I would have the students write two paragraphs about the history of Vincent Van Gogh and why they think their project portrays his image of a starry night.

Dot art

Image
This is a dot activity to show creativity in your work. Students had to incorporate different mediums in their work.   An extension activity to do with students about boosting their confidence in their artwork is having them keep a sketchbook. I would have them draw a drawing every day of class so that they start feeling comfortable with their drawings. They will have to share their drawing with at least one person in the class so that they feel comfortable sharing with their peers.

An extension activity that would work well with elements and principles is having students analyze artists artwork to determine what types of elements and principles they used. This will get students thinking about the different principles and looking at different artists work. Students could also present why they think the artist used the principles.
